History

History of Estrella EyeCare

Estrella EyeCare began as a satellite office of Dr. Hill and Dr. Frank in 1993 and was simply known as the "West Office" of Dr. Hill and Dr. Frank. Dr. Hill began his practice in Phoenix in the early 60's and was joined by Dr. Frank in 1983. Their Phoenix location moved to 7th St, it's current location about the same time the West Office was opening on 46th Ave & Thomas Rd. Dr. Hill worked two days and Dr. Frank worked one day each week with Mona keeping everything running smoothly in the office. (Mona was the office manager, optician, receptionist, bookkeeper, and custodian). As the west office grew Gloria joined the team and soon the one exam room space became too small. In 1998 the office was moved from 46th Ave and Thomas to a building once occupied by CIGNA then FHP located at 67th Ave and Indian School. After being in this location a short time, Dr. Pyle-Smith joined the practice initially as part-time and soon became full time. Ada also joined the team at this time.

In early 2002, the doctors moved further west as the southwest valley continued its booming growth. A new modern medical and professional complex was being built in Avondale just off I-10 and became the new home of the "West Office". Being near the Estrella Mountains, the West office was renamed to Estrella Eye Care.

The practice continues to grow as we've added additional quality people to our staff. Mona has since retired, but Gloria and Ada are still with us and we've added three more full time and one part time employees. Many of our early patients from the Thomas Road and Indian School location are also still with us. Dr. Hill retired in 2005 and Dr. Frank continues to split his time between Central Phoenix Eye Care and Estrella Eye Care. Dr. Pyle-Smith continues full time at Estrella Eye Care. The practice has been blessed with great people that make this office a great practice.
